Course: Topics in Typographic Inquiry

Project: Recipe Zine

Date: 2026 College SM

Timeline: Two Weeks

Background: Topics in typographyc inquiry is class focused on exploring a variety of typographic formats and products. Much of the class is centered around the history and creation of zines.

Objective: Design, print, and bind, a 16-page zine, the content of which should be made up of 4–6 “recipes”. For this assignment I could define “recipe” in a straightforward way and include a list of ingredients and instructions for cooking or baking, or I could consider the term in a more broad sense. For example, my zine could include recipes for the perfect vacation outfits, or recipes for a successful Animal Crossing Island.

Product: For my recipe selection, I chose to look back on my time spent living abroad in Wellington, New Zealand, selecting 5 meals I remembered fondly and writing out step-by-step instructions for each. I printed and bound the zine for display.
